Baltic Capitals Cruise - Day 11 SWEDEN

July 1st
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

we all went together on the same tour

we boarded our tour bus and drove through the city of Stockholm
crossing bridges onto 14 different islands -all closely connected

this city is pretty and nice and clean

We saw museums and historical buildings,

famous theatres

 Drottningholm Palace

this is where the Nobel Prize is given each year

you can see the lake and the harbor

the water in this lake is so clean
they said you could drink it

I like Sweden!

cobblestones

narrow road/alleys

and then we went to the SKYVIEW!

This is the largest spherical building in the world.

I was so excited to go on this because
The Amazing Race went here last year and
I knew all about the experience.

We entered one of the 2 small globes
and rode the rail up to the top of the large globe.
The large globe is a cover for an enclosed arena.
426 feet high at the top.

the views from the glass globe

8 of us rode together and the other couple took our picture.

FUN!

going back down was a different perspective

I bought a souvenir coin

Next we drove to the Gamla Stan  (Old town)
and saw the changing of the guard at
Stockholm Palace

There were so many people I saw it by looking
at other peoples IPADs as they were filming the guards  :)

Sweden's flag

a street outhouse - for men only

change from souvenir purchase,
we bought a Viking ship

Djurgarden - lots of OLD buildings

Including the VASA Museum
This Viking Warship, VASA, was built in the 17th Century.
It sank in 1628
in the Stockholm harbor and remained buried for 333 years.

it is amazingly well preserved
