Baltic Capitals Cruise - Day 6 & 7 FINLAND

Thursday, June 26
Day at SEA
We just slept in, read books, relaxed and ate.
 Went to a few activities on board the ship, ate again, took a nap
and met up with Jessica, Andrew, Doug and Misty for dinner.
 
We watched the World Cup Soccer - USA vs. Germany,
went to the evening show of excellent Italian singers
 and went to bed.
 
Friday, June 27
(even my camera is messed up date wise)
HELSINKI, FINLAND
we are officially in Scandanavia

Helsinki, Finland

Our tour is Helsinki by Land and Sea

We left the ship and got on a bus that took us to a
double deck boat.

along with 200 other people we cruised the
Gulf of Finland




Suomenlinna is an old sea fortress
built on six islands.  There were cannons,
old buildings...



an old submarine...


and the King's Gate,
the original entrance to Finland.

KONTIO (bear), URHO (courageous), VOIMA (strong)

I bought a Viking figure

 
 
 We got back on the bus and toured all through Helsinki
 
 seeing Kiasma (an art museum)

 and Helsinki's Olympic Stadium.

Temppeliaukio
 or Church of the Rock
a Lutheran church built IN a rock

it has a copper roof and great acostics
