Baltic Capitals Cruise - Day 5 GERMANY

I have lost track of  what "day" it is on our trip and the time keeps changing  - but - according to Germany, it is Wednesday, June 25th.
We are docked in Warnemunde, Germany.

Wes and I decided to go for a walk this
morning down this street.
we walked UNDER the train station and into town

We walked the Alte Strom or Riverwalk

we walked to the end to see the lighthouse

looking back at the seaside beach resort

All these Scandlines ferries were crossing the
Baltic Sea

Leuchtturm
an historically OLD lighthouse

turns out ALL the boats say this...
Wes said it looks like "have a rude fart"

old Seaside resort town

this lady was playing a lively German tune
on this cranked musicbox
we got back from our walk and our room was clean
with this towel animal on the bed

first excursion!
Rostock by Road, River and Rail

we took a bus through Warnemunde seeing
more than what we saw walking this morning
-Old East Germany-
then it took us to a rail station

we boarded a private train
and rode the train into Rostock, Germany

our guide's old aluminum East German coins

a stone gate and the Parliament Bldg.

picturesque with cobblestone roads

Marienkirche
an old Gothic church bombed in WW11
but was missed
old stained glass windows

an old calendar clock and a 5,702 pipe organ
a man came in and spontaneously started singing!
it was amazingly beautiful!

this one is a Gross Hafenrundfarhrt!
We took this boat on the "river" part of our tour

very German

Norwegian STAR
(we had this same ship on the Mexican Riviera
but it has been refurbished and repainted.)

Warnemunde had strawberries everywhere
I bought a scarf (every German lady was wearing one)

Our ship docked at the mouth of the river by the Baltic Sea
we took a bus then train into Rostock
returning by boat to Warnemunde.

That night the ship had a German Folkloric show
with local youth.  One guy played an instrument
called the "pan pipes" which made eerie flutelike sounds.
Beautiful!

on our way back to our room for the night...
we met Doug & Misty who drove 195K on the autobahn into Poland
and Jessica & Andrew who went to Berlin and saw the "Wall"
and concentration camps today.
They were sharing Buffalo Wings in a diner.
We joined them and laughed for an hour!

bedtime
