Road trip - Day 2

In the morning, in the daylight, we can now see New Jersey a little better.
First time for Wes being here and he now has been to all 50 states!

Leaving New Jersey and crossing over the Delaware River.

Back into Delaware.

Into Maryland.

Crossing the Susquehanna River.

 We are getting on the I-70 Freeway at the very beginning of it
 in Franklintown, Maryland.  This is a BIG DEAL because we have
lived at the end of this freeway near Cove Fort, Utah!

Driving into West Virginia across the Potomac River.

 

Across the river from Harper's Ferry where we have visited previously.

Crossing the Susquehanna River again at Harper's Ferry.

Through the Shenandoah Valley.



Into Virginia.
 
We arrived at Leisa and Dale's house.

We went shopping at an antique store in Winchester and found a
milk can strainer that Wes has been looking for!

Tuesday, Jan. 30 we have tickets to actually tour the White House!

Heading into Washington D.C. in early morning traffic to make our

appointment time at the White House.

We went through the Visitor's Center first to learn what we could.

At the gate to the White House we were told that our tour of the White House

had been cancelled!  After getting up early and driving for 2 hours!

They cancelled because it is "the State of the Union" tonight. 

So disappointed... BUT what can be done.

so we drove around and toured most of the historic sites in D.C.

It was COLD and windy.

We drove along The MALL seeing the National Museums and

the Smithsonian.

I remember...  I wore a copper POW bracelet in 1974 and 1975.

Leaving D.C.   We flew home to Utah the next day.

50 States and Washington D.C.

Back home with all my souvenirs to go into my curio cabinet.
